About Brooks County
..............................................................................................................
Brooks County was founded on December 11, 1858 and named in honor of Preston Smith Brooks. The Brooks County Courthouse was constructed in 1864 and still houses the County Court Offices. Brooks County, a community as proud of its past as it is of its bright future, boasts one of the largest historical districts on the National Register and has worked diligently to preserve its historic landmarks. While Georgia has become the 4th fastest growing state in the US, Brooks County has managed to protect its rich history while bringing in new and growing industries.
