Industrial Park
..............................................................................................................

The Brooks County Development Authority proudly announces the construction plans for the new Brooks County Industrial Park!  The new industrial park, scheduled for completion in September 2010, will have water (12" loop around the park), sewer (8" mains and two pump houses within the park), and gas (4" main within the park) utilities provided by the City of Quitman.  Paved streets with curbs and gutters are also in the plans. The industrial park is zoned for heavy industry with a Class 4 fire insurance rating. All environmental permitting has been completed. In addition, the Brooks County Industrial Park is located within a designated Opportunity Zone providing Tier I tax credits.

Financing for the infrastructure of the new industrial park has become available through several grants and a coalition between local authorities.  The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA), granted the BCDA a total of $995,898. An additional $500,000 was recently granted from the OneGeorgia Authority, followed closely with an award for another $500,000 from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA).  The City of Quitman has contributed $585,351, and the Brooks County Commission has committed to $1,087,080.

The Brooks County Industrial Park is strategically located in southern Brooks County.  Approximately 14 miles west of Valdosta (and Interstate 75), 24 miles north of Interstate 10 and 211 miles south of Atlanta, the site is convenient to commercial air travel and the Georgia & Florida Railway, which runs through the premises.  The CSX Junction is within one mile of the Industrial Park.

The land was purchased in 2004 from the Board of Commissioners, and consists of 250 acres.  The Brooks County Development Authority has the first right of refusal on an adjacent 221 acres currently owned by the County.
