Formed by an act of the Georgia State Assembly, the Brooks County Development Authority is under the direction of Director, Tina Herring, and Assistant Director, Lauren Basford, and the Development Authority Board.  The Board consists of seven members including Walter "Buddy" Holwell (Chairman), Van Murphy (Vice Chairman), Andy Swann (Secretary), Pete Moody (Treasurer), Zack Williams, Tim Crosby and Delphanie McGhee.  In addition, the Authority Engineer is Ben DeVane of DeVane PlanENG and the Authority Attorney is Vann Parrott of the Howell-Parrott Law Firm.

The Brooks County Development Authority strives for excellence and would love the opportunity to help in the relocation or start-up of your business or industry.  Skilled in grant writing, the BCDA works with all state and federal agencies to find available monies for both the community and business.

Our mission is to foster an environment of strong economic vitality through a supportive atmosphere whereby our new and existing industry can develop and flourish within the current business climate.

The Brooks County Development Authority exists to promote economic development in Brooks County by aiding in the expansion of existing industry and through the attraction of new investment and quality employment opportunities. The Authority focuses on economic development to create financial opportunity for all citizens, i.e. jobs; through business investment resulting in a more diversified public revenue base.


Objectives

  • Work with existing businesses to support and assist with plans for endurance and/or expansion
  • Maintain a "product" of interest for businesses searching for a new location
  • Preserve the agricultural base through participation and association with farmers in the community
  • Promote historical significance, future readiness and a business-friendly climate established by the community
