Being a Certified Work Ready Community Means Having a Prepared Workforce

"For Georgia to create 21st century job opportunities, we need a workforce with the skills, knowledge and lifelong learning demanded by an ever-changing global market."
-Governor Sonny Perdue

Georgia's Work Ready program is an ambitious strategy to improve the training and marketability of our workforce. Through its voluntary assessment, certificate and job profiling components, Work Ready guarantees workers have the talent necessary for existing jobs and the skills to master the innovation technologies tomorrow's jobs will require.
Becoming a Work Ready employee requires taking the Work Ready assessment (at no cost to every Georgian). This assessment tests certain skill levels in Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. The results are then used to classify awards into four distinct categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Since November of 2009, Brooks County has been able proud to claim Work Ready Community status. For our community it means having a prepared workforce that can fill jobs provided by new and existing companies. For a business it means having a ready workforce regardless of industry. It means better employee selection and reduced turnover. It means higher productivity and increased employee morale. It means, in short, that our workforce will be an asset to the company.
